Sargent’s Sonic product line specializes in high strength fasteners for nearly every critical application on an airframe. As a premier supplier to Boeing Commercial Aircraft, Sonic’s fasteners can be found on every model aircraft since the B727.


Sonic specializes in the use of hot forging to create various head configurations and most simple protrusion geometries. Hot forging of the head provides both lower cost, and superior mechanical properties when compared to similar machined components. Cost savings are achieved by the use of smaller bar stock for the forging blank which reduces material cost, and eliminates numerous machining operations. Enhanced fastener strength is realized by retaining uninterrupted grain flow at the critical interface between the fastener head and shank.







Sonic’s specialty products are best characterized as flight critical, life-limited, safety related, precision machined fasteners. Types include the following:

	Fuse Pins	Designed to mechanically shear in flight critical modes ensuring structural survival.
	Specials	Specific design for a particular assembly, specific life or load limitations based on stress and tensile forces
	Pawl Bolts	Designed with Pawl locking device to ensure retention
	Torque Bolt	Designed to torque off at prescribed loads, eliminating the need for torque wrenches
